Popular PA Sprint Car Racer Killed In Crash: Coroner

A popular 23-year-old sprint car race is dead following a crash into a tree on Tuesday night, Sept. 3, the York County Coroner's Office announced.

Kyle Craker, of the 900 block of Siddonsburg Road, in Fairview Township, was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from his vehicle after losing control in the area of Alpine Road and Boar Mooring 3 Road in Warrington Township around 7 p.m. as detailed in the coroner's release. First responders found the vehicle slammed into a tree.

Craker was taken to WellSpan York Hospital where he died from his injuries at 8:30 p.m. Deputy Coroner Karen Frank responded to the hospital to certify the death and investigate at 8:46 p.m.

His cause of death is from “multiple blunt force injuries” and the manner was ruled accidental, according to the coroner.

There will be no autopsy but a toxicology was performed.

His name will be released after the next of kin has been notified. 

The crash remains under investigation by State Police.

Kyle was a 2019 graduate of Red Land Senior High School as York Daily Record reported at the time. He was known popular racer who began in quarter midget racing and later moved up to a 305 sprint car, according to social media. 

Kyle's father George recently helped with repairs to one of the speedways where Kyle raced.

The racing community is heartbroken over this sudden loss and has taken to social media to share photos and memories of the beloved racer.
